The Brief

Marriott International,Inc. is the largest hotel company in the world.

Lime*collaborated with the team at DDO (Design Development Operations) whose solejob is to create bars and restaurants for Marriott hotels. From the W Hotel tothe St. Regis, they produce stunning, award-winning designs. And we loveworking with these guys!

DDO wanted to do amasterclass series that covered everything you need to think about whendesigning these convivial spaces, from initial ideas and processes to how longit takes, as well as all the subtle nuances that non-specialists wouldn't evenconsider when it comes to creating a successful F&B experience.

The video was aimed athotel management to help them understand all the ins and outs of what DDO does,how they think, plan and execute their ideas because it’s important that eachhotel comprehends the various aspects of design and that hotel owners stayinformed.

Creative & Production

We met a big challengejust as we were about to start filming: Covid hit!

So, we had to go remote.

We hired film companiesin Singapore, Shanghai and Bangkok and started filming remotely using AETOM – a cool piece of kit that plugged into theircameras and showed us exactly what the cameraman was seeing – so we coulddirect the shoot from Hong Kong. We did all the copywriting and storyboards,and fed them into a teleprompter to keep everyone on message.

We’d never used AETOMbefore but everyone, us included, started using it during Covid when peoplecouldn’t travel.

Each masterclass seriesfeatured two or three episodes, each centred around a theme, like bar design orrestaurant design, etc. We did six of them and the whole lot took us about ayear.
