The brand dates back to1888, when Lee Kum Sheung invented and started mass producing oyster sauce inGuangdong, China. In 1932 the company moved its headquarters to Hong Kong.Today, its name is recognised globally.
Previously, Lee Kum Keehad made videos for the B2B sector – suppliers, restaurants, hotels, supermarketchains, etc – or those aimed at consumers. This time they were looking totarget both sectors, telling their story and conveying their mass appeal, in avideo for their website.
Lime* startedout by writing a corporate video that we’d shoot in Hong Kong. We wanted togive it a strong international flavour, so for the opening shots of peoplecooking and sharing food in homes, we searched for and found a location wherewe could film in different interiors that made it look like they could beanywhere in the world. And we used a multicultural cast for this. We alsofilmed chefs using products in a working kitchen to demonstrate their use byprofessionals.
Our team headed to theLee Kum Kee main production base in Xinhui,China, to capture the lush green farmlands where they grow soybeans andchillies. And we filmed inside the plant where quality control and bottling isdone, and where their famous oyster sauce is made.
We conveyed the brand’s history, expansion, philosophies and principles, but throughout we really wanted to keep the feelof the video very light and buoyant with an emphasis on the natural, clean, ethos of their products and the company as a whole.
Lime* wasreally proud to shoot a video for this Hong Kong legend.
