Harman Recruitment Video Project: Showcasing Opportunity in Shenzhen

An inside look at the creative process and its impact

THE BRIEF

Harman, a renowned American company recognized globally for its innovative and high-end audio systems, reached out to us with a unique challenge. Their Shenzhen, China office was eager to attract a broader spectrum of overseas talent and needed a compelling recruitment video to help realize this goal. The task wasn’t merely about advertising job openings; Harman wanted us to craft a narrative that captured the very essence of the company—the values, the culture, and the innovation that define it. Just as crucially, they wanted us to paint a captivating portrait of Shenzhen itself, highlighting why it’s not only an excellent place to work, but also an exciting city to live and thrive in.

THE RESULT

Embarking on this project, we quickly identified a core challenge: Shenzhen’s image in the eyes of many international professionals remains uncertain, often overshadowed by misconceptions or lack of familiarity. Conveying the city’s vibrancy, technological spirit, and quality of life in just two and a half minutes required more than glossy visuals or generic testimonials. It called for authenticity and genuine passion from those who knew the city best—Harman’s own employees.

To achieve this, we took a documentary-style approach, allowing the people at Harman to lead the narrative. We interviewed employees from diverse backgrounds, capturing candid moments as they navigated their workdays and enjoyed their lives in Shenzhen. Their energy and enthusiasm shone through every frame, dispelling myths and revealing the truth: Shenzhen is a dynamic metropolis, a hub for innovation, and a place where creativity flourishes both at work and beyond.

Through vibrant street scenes, glimpses of lush parks, and the hustle of tech-driven neighborhoods, the video becomes more than a corporate recruitment tool—it’s a celebration of a city on the rise. The stories shared by Harman’s team members not only illuminated the company’s supportive and forward-thinking environment, but also underscored the unique benefits of living in one of China’s most modern cities.

By the project’s conclusion, we had succeeded in creating something greater than a simple recruitment video. We captured a snapshot of what it means to be part of Harman, to innovate together, and to call Shenzhen home—a city not just of today, but of the future. Mission accomplished.
